Then i put a dot of gorilla glue in the center of the washer and pushed it onto the plastic nub and held it so that it was upside down to dry until I could take my finger off. Spread a very light amount of gorilla glue on the perimeter of the rubber pad and slap the washer in, let dry. So what I did was get a very thin metal washer and used my dad's grinder to grind it down to the same diameter as the plastic ring that used to be in the rubber part. Wtf? 2-3 matches later entire pad falls off revealing cheap ass cracked broken plastic circle that gives the rubber piece its form. Playing Smash Bros, piece of plastic ends up falling out from under my circle pad. I've had a blue 3DS XL since a few days after the XL was released and my circle pad broke off the exact same way just recently. I've actually had to open up several controllers like that over the years. Apparently one of the shoulder button's contacts had come loose and needed to be repositioned. I actually had to perform a similar task with my Wii U gamepad recently. It will also help to have something that can be used to delicately pry things loose, like a spudger as recommended by the guide. It can be done with a #00 screwdriver, but there's a greater risk of stripping the screws. You're going to need a Phillips #000 screwdriver for this procedure. Make sure you follow that ifixit guide carefully and adhere to it's warnings. It pays to make a mental note of what you've done at every step of the process. Second, Make sure when putting it back together that everything goes back exactly the way you found it. This is some sensitive electronics after all. Some things may require a bit of force to remove or adjust, but you need to exercise caution and forethought when doing so.
